How to become popular: 10 tips
|
It's an age old mundane desire: to become
popular. Consciously or unconsciously,
everyone-from teacher to student with vice
chancellor inclusive-is involved in the
scramble for popularity. Some earn up
getting negative popularity but BC Extra
assembles for you 10 tips to try out and get
to the centre of your world.

1) What's your school's official sportswear colour? If your school
hasn't got a uniform sports design, here's your chance to get
spotted. If it's white, wear an England or Real Madrid football
shirt. If its red, wear a Cristiano Ronaldo Manchester United or
Peter Crouch Liverpool replica shirt. If it's blue, your best bet is a
Chelsea shirt. The latest sports shirt is fashion and the good
thing is that not everyone can afford them, not to talk of even
knowing where they can be got.
2) Make posters of your name or alias and secretly pin them in
every corner of the school. "La voix" yourself. It's a great trick.
But be sure to get four days suspension if you are caught.
3) Pretend to be Peter Breiner or George Frederick Handel and
conduct the national anthem in classic style with a short baton
to emphasize your role as the philharmonic conductor. Have you
seen those fat filled German classical musicians on musique
classique? Fake their zeal and knowhow and you'll be known in
the next school.
4) Spot the three most beautiful girls in school. Ask them to
present a brief talk to your classmates on responsible girlhood.
They too will obviously like the chance to show off. Sit in front
with them and moderate like the chief whip in an assembly.
Interrupt their discourse now and then to chip in something. Be
seen and draw all the attention to yourself.
5) Be the official school sports mascot. This way, you make
yourself the number one supporter of every sport in school.
Attend and animate all school sporting events with fun and
pageantry. Sometimes, you should wear a cinderella wig.
6) Read out your daily diary to classmates at the end of each
school day like a movie script. Puzzle the class, hook their
attention and have them wait for the next issue of your life like
a new INA episode. But if you really want to dare this one, it
must be your true diary, honestly written to the depth of your
soul. Sometimes you'll come across phrases that give you a chill as
you read them.
7) Become the living library of the school. As well as making you
genuinely popular, this one rewards you with knowledge. It
requires a lot of hard work. As a living library, you endeavour to
answer every question on any issue under consideration, define
every word wherever a definition is sought in the campus or
neigbourhood. You develop a fondness for perfect
understanding. Never you settle for an "I don't know." Take an
appointment with the audience. Go to the library. Do research
and come back with an authoritative explanation. Refer every
word in the dictionary for an accurate explanation. Have no
subject limits. Be the BBC and CNN of the college.
8) Ever seen players in the calcio celebrating a goal? Arrange
with friends to raise your foot to a pedestal made of a friend's
back while he kneels. Others then imaginarily polish your golden
shoes. Girls can have half a dozen friends wipe their sweat and
fan them with horsetails like a grassland princess while they tour
the school or neighbourhood.
9) Play George Bush. Get bodyguards. Arrange with six healthy
looking boys to escort you wherever you go. You walk in their
middle like the FBI, CIA or Homeland security boss.
10) Organise your birthday party in school. Invite every class. If
you can get about 800 people to attend your party, you can win
the mayorship. Arrange for the school's most prominent
students, the gorgeous and the glitterati to do an acapella
rendition of "Happy birthday to you"...
