Career people...any one can become a great professional
primary schools
As you make your bed, so shall you lie on it. That's one of life's biggest
realities. People come and go. People blast their way into a career and
not only forge their way but leave their footprints on the sands of time.
Women are more often heard these days wishing to become career
women. The truth is that it's easier to become a career woman or a
career man than you were ever told.

Anyone can become the career person but first you have to drop the
bad habits and live the purpose driven life as from this very moment.

FOCUS
Career people have a focus. Career people are driven by their desire to
break their way through a difficult profession or tread a path that is rife
with business or job failures. For this reason, career people tend to be
positively narrow-minded. As far back as student days, you can focus
and take aim on what you truly want to be. To be successful right from
your student days, you must have in head where you are going to.

ATTITUDE
Certainly, you'll never jump overnight from a lousy noise-maker in the
class to a composed CEO or General Manager at the helm of a
conglomerate or the county police chief. Your future job needs you to be
quiet, composed and studious, it's today you start exercising those
traits. So when finally you are through with certificates and walk into
that interview, the jury can immediately read in you the attitudes of the
confident and intelligent decision-maker that will turn their organisation
around.

AIM
You want to work for an international oil company? You shouldn't then
spend three quarters of your time harvesting cocoa or watching silly
videos and soaps on tv. What you ought to do is read every available
literature about petroleum exploration, the business and its big players.

PREPARE TO SOLVE PROBLEMS
People are recruited because someone wants them to solve a problem.
When you are scanning your sector of career. Don't hang around the
success stories. Success is not a problem and you'll hardly get a job
when something's succeeding. See yourself as the man who's going to
stop the wind from blowing away the roof. Target problem areas. Study
the failures, the fiascos and the scandals in the industry or organisation.
But don't you flip through them like a glossy celebrity magazine in a
gigolo's lap. You must study them analytical. Try to understand what
went wrong. How it happened. What could have stopped it from
happening and above all, how would you remedy the situation. The last
part is what interest's recruiters.

Career people have usually come a long way off and they have a lot to
prove. They want to prove all the doubters and detractors wrong and
the best bet is to start early.

INDEPENDENCE
You'll need to be independent early enough so you can get your own
experience. It's not always best in life when you are told everything you
shouldn't do, you are guarded and protected and there's someone to
absorb the shock for so each time there's a mess. No. Cut unnecessary
support from parents, relatives and overprotective friends. You need to
solve your own problems without making stupid family calls. You need
to keep problems at a reasonable low. You need to know who to bring in
and when to bring them in. Never you let people take total charge of
problems caused by you except you are busy solving bigger problems.
Be selective on the kind of support you need. Accept prayers and
encouragement. Listen to advice but if you are a good decision maker,
never let anyone decide for you.

THE CALLING
The career life calls for some austerity and discipline. It's like a calling.
Priests don't wait until they are ordained before the start praying and
reading the writings of the church fathers or other inspired work. It's a
habit they build into their programme years before the deaconate.

As you too prepare for a life changing career, keep all these in mind
and strive for the sky until you attain fulfilment in your dream job or
business revolution of your own. The sky's the limit.
